The Dresser Palmer House has some very exciting and unique activities to participate in during your stay. One of which includes an introduction to glassblowing. This class is taught by acclaimed local glassblower, Jon Piorier. In one six-hour session with lunch provided or two three-hour sessions, this workshop offers a rare opportunity to learn and practice the intricate art of glassblowing. This workshop will introduce the absolute beginner to the basics of working hot glass. You will learn to gather glass from the furnace then use the blocks, marver and other tools first to make solid forms such as marbles and paperweights and then finish by blowing glass to make simple bowls and vases. No experience required. Wearing cotton jeans, cotton long sleeve shirt and shoes is recommended. Participants keep all six pieces they make in the class.
